Darrell Ballweg

A funeral service was held Tuesday, July 30 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon for Darrell Ballweg, 74, of Langdon. He died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in Fargo.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Langdon.

Darrell was born June 8, 1939 to Clarence and Genevieve (Stamm) Ballweg in Langdon. He attended school at St. Alphonsus Catholic School, graduating in 1957. He went to NDSU where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and received his BS in Agriculture. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1965. He married Cheryl Mukomela on August 19, 1967 in Langdon. He farmed near Nekoma all his life. He also worked for Farm Credit Service as branch manager for over 20 years and sold crop and hail insurance. He enjoyed farming, traveling, snow-skiing, entertaining, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #3454, American Legion Post #98, Knights of Columbus, and ND Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl of Langdon; son Darren Ballweg of Nekoma; granddaughter Lauren Ballweg of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother Keith Ballweg of Langdon; sisters Gayle (Larry) Coles of Valley City and Sheila (Rich) Pulju of Cold Spring, Minn.; step-mother Lorraine Ballweg of Langdon; step-sister Carol (Ken) Myhre of Langdon; step-brothers Dale (Becky) Mann of Grand Forks, ND and David (Toni) Mann of Bismarck; aunts; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepbrother Dennis Mann; and various family members.

Brooks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
