Robert was born March 26, 1934, in South Olga Township near Milton to Jules and Marie (Pelletier) Lebrun. He moved to the Langdon area with his parents in 1937 where he graduated from St. Alphonsus. Robert continued his education at North Dakota State University in Fargo. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Cox, formerly of Calvin on October 12, 1957, at St. Alphonsus Church. They farmed near Nekoma and became the loving parents of five children: Carleen, David, Mary Kathleen, Julie, and Janet. They were very involved in marriage encounter work. Kathy and their daughter Mary, age 21, were both killed in a car accident January 7, 1983. Bob became involved with Beginning Experiences. He and Frances Feil were united in marriage on July 12, 1985. They made their home in Langdon, and he continued to farm in Nekoma. He was the fourth generation of his family to farm in Perry Township. He spent his whole life as a farmer other than spending a few winters in his younger years working in California. He was known as the “old truck nut” and collected internationals and Studebakers. He enjoyed attending farm and toy shows and loved to travel.
