Shirley Ann Hansel was born to Joseph and Anna Mae (Koehmstedt) Hansel on April 3, 1950, in Langdon. She was a member of the last Senior Class at St. Alphonsus High School, graduating in 1968. She married Ronald Lenz on October 3, 1970, at St. Alphonsus church in Langdon. They had three children and have spent the last 30 years in Sutton. She was an amazing seamstress and has made many a dress over the years, including her own wedding dress. She was the school cook at Midkota High School for 20 years where she treated each student as her own. She thrived on helping others and making sure everything was done and everyone was happy. And being a cook, there was never a lack of goodies. Her lefse, homemade buns, and pizza were family favorites.

Shirley will be deeply missed by her husband of 43 years, Ron, two daughters: Laurie (Boyd) McKenzie of Courtney, Joannie (Ron) Somsen of Kensal; son Chad (Shannah) Lenz of Michigan; 12 grandkids: Kassandra, Leigh, Chelsea, Lacey and Addison McKenzie; Jasmyn, Mason, Holden and Brendan Lenz; and Hayden, Berkley, and Chase Somsen, one great-grandchild: Brighton Ackerman, her mother, Anna Mae Hansel of Langdon, two sisters, seven brothers, and several nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

She was greeted in heaven by her father, Joseph Hansel, a brother, Roger Hansel, in-laws, Art and Sue Lenz, and sister-in-law, Bonnie (Lenz) Marsh.
