He died December 5, 2013.
Lynn was born in Langdon to Paul “Chuck” and Florestine “Boo” Skabo. He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a BS and then went directly into the Air Force to become a successful pilot, flying air refuelers during Vietnam and also flying numerous classified missions all over the globe. During his career he achieved a Masters degree in Counseling through Ball State University. He was awarded many medals, awards and commendations while in the Air Force where he retired as a Full Colonel. He easily earned the respect of his colleagues and those who worked with him or for him or knew him as a friend. They would describe him as a humble, polished officer with such high personal integrity and conviction; one would feel secure in his confidence and trust. He had a very kind heart, never hesitating to help friends in whatever means he could, even people he didn’t know. He was honest, gracious and grateful – always a gentleman. He treated everyone with dignity, respect and compassion. Thankfully, we are comforted by his strong belief in our Lord – fly high my precious Eagle, you are free.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Fern; sons, Caid and Chad; daughters, Leah (Philip) and Tara (Robert); step-daughter, Ria; granddaughters, Sophia and Sienna; aunts, uncles and cousins, too many friends to name, and last, but not least, his ever faithful companion, O’Reilly, the family Pekinese.
If friends so desire, donations in Lynn’s memory can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or www.woundedwariorproject.org.
