Arleen H. Sunderland, 94, of Milton passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier.

A celebration of Arleen’s life will be held in the summer of 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Arleen H. Hanson was born November 14, 1919 in Cavalier County, the daughter of the late Edward and Ragna (Olson) Hanson. She attended schools in Milton, graduating in 1937. She attended Mayville State Teachers College and following her education taught rural school for five years. She was united in marriage to Charles W. Sunderland on August 9, 1941 in Milton. The couple made their home in Milton and she worked as the cook in the Milton Public School. She also was a part-time postal clerk. Charles passed away on Jan. 21, 1982. She moved to the Borg Home in Mountain on June 5, 2009 and to the Wedgewood Manor in September of 2012.
Arleen is survived by her children: Gary of Fenton, Mich.; Rebecca (Gary) Sloan, Linton; Madge (Duane) Dows, Page; Pearce (Sue), Gulfport, Miss.; Steve (Trish), Milton; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and brother, Harlan (Gladys) Hanson, Milton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Charles E., two daughters-in-law: Karen and Sharon, grandson, Garrett, two infant sisters, sister Thelma, and brothers: Bernard, Arnold, Sidney, Marvin and Edwin.
