Norma Hallgrimson

A funeral service was held Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Milton Lutheran Church, Milton for Norma I.O. Hallgrimson, 85, of Mountain.

She died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier.

Interment will be at Milton Memorial Cemetery in the spring.

Norma I.O. Olson was born November 15, 1928 in Osford Township of Cavalier County, the daughter of the late Oscar and Caroline (Grinager) Olson. She received her elementary education at Osford District #3 and graduated from Milton High School in 1946. While in high school she worked for a family in Milton for her room and board. Following graduation she attended Mayville State Teachers College and received her teaching credentials. She taught for a time at the Union School at Union. She was united in marriage to Howard Hallgrimson on February 17, 1953 at Medicine Lake, Mont. The couple lived and farmed in Montrose Township near Milton until his death in 1979. She drove school bus for the Milton Public School from 1968-1974. Norma moved to Mountain in the fall of 1979. She worked as a CNA at the Borg Home in Mountain for over 20 years, retiring in the late 1990’s. She continued to make Mountain her home until her death. She was a member of the former Milton Presbyterian Church and was a life member of the Milton American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children: Larry Hallgrimson, Mountain; Raymond (Jeannie) Hallgrimson, Norco, Calif. and Carol Hallgrimson, Minneapolis, Minn. and two granddaughters: Haleigh and Olivia Hallgrimson, Norco, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Keith, her sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Henry Rud and brother Lyle Olson.
