A memorial service was held Sunday, May 4, 2014 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Northfield, Minn. for Glenna Jean Fast, 86, of Northfield, formerly of Langdon.
She died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Millstream Commons Assisted Living facility.
Interment at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn.
Glenna Jean Fast was born May 26, 1927 in Langdon, daughter of Roy and Ethel (Cummings) Denler. She was raised in Langdon where she attended school and the Langdon Presbyterian Church. On April 4, 1947 she was united in marriage to Robert Lee Fast also of Langdon. She worked in Langdon until they moved to Minnesota. In 1956 they moved to Northfield. She worked at various places for the first few years. She then went on to manage Stevenson’s (women’s clothing store) and then went to work for Fairway Foods (Holiday) until she retired in 1993. She then went on to work part-time at Kmart and Casey’s in her retirement years. She and Bob became members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday school for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Northfield VFW. She took pride in maintaining her home and yard. She enjoyed her family and vacationing at the lake. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and square dancing. She was very proud of her children, great grandchildren and her only great grandchild.
Glenna is survived by her daughters Carol (Les) Ferris of Northfield, Kelly (Rod) Gasner of Owatonna and son Jerry Fast of Mesquite, Nev. and her grandchildren Tiffani, Les Jr., Abbi, Kullen and Kelsey and her great granddaughter Aubrey. Glenna is also survived by her brother Bruce (Vaughan) Denler of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her sister Lois (Ed) Klein of Wahpeton and Cousin Bonnie Swenson of Langdon and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother James, sister Sharon and husband Robert.
