A funeral service was held Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Shuman’s Funeral home of St. Petersburg, Fla. for Alayne Shortridge, 85, of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Alayne Shortridge was born to Wesley and Nancy Bloomquist Shortridge on April 30, 1928 in Grey Township near Hannah. She attended elementary school at Grey Consolidated School and Calvin High School. She graduated from Calvin High School in 1946. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo and was employed at WDAY Radio in Fargo. She moved to Minneapolis, Minn. in 1958 and worked at Bolin Smith Advertising Agency and then KSTP-TV until 1973 when she moved to St. Petersburg, Fla. She worked at WTOG-TV until her retirement in 1996. She was known as the “Traffic Lady” in her work at the television stations as she provided the necessary scheduling through computerized activities to schedule television shows and commercials. In addition to her work she enjoyed her family, attending events for the nieces and nephews as well as remembering each of them on every holiday. She was known as “Ba-Bak” to her loving nieces and nephews.
Alayne is survived by her sisters: Alice Olson, Park River; Donna Kingzett, Munich; Joanne Haug, Minneapolis, Minn.; and brothers: Russell Shortridge Walnut Grove, Calif.; Calvin Shortridge (Cyrilla), Grand Forks, and Jack Shortridge (Daunine) Denver, Colo.
Alayne was preceded in death by her parents and brother- in- laws: Earl Olson and JC. Kingzett, and sister-in laws: Isabelle Shortridge and Jeannie Shortridge. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
