A funeral service was held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Emmanuel Evangelical Church of Langdon for William “Bill” Heck, 102, of Langdon.

He died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the Edmore Memorial Rest Home of Edmore.
Interment at Zion Cemetery.
William was born to Gothlief and Christina (Munt) Heck on August 19, 1911, in Hay Township, Cavalier County, where he grew up and completed his schooling. He then farmed with his brothers John and Fred for a few years. He married Mildred Inez Olson on September 8, 1936, at the Zion Evangelical Parsonage. From 1936 until 1946 he farmed near Osnabrock for various farmers. In 1946 they purchased a farm near Langdon, where he continued to live. He also did construction work for 60 years. He was an active member of Emmanuel Evangelical Church. He was treasurer for about five years. He did a lot of work on the church when it was built and continued to help when things needed work done on the building. He enjoyed going to the Osnabrock and Langdon Nursing Homes to spend time praying with the residents there.
He is survived by five of his children, Allan G. Heck and wife NeMona (Penner) of Bartlesville, Okla.; Eugene W. Heck of Langdon; Elaine (Heck) Huether and husband Gary of Fillmore, Ind.; Victor C. Heck of Langdon; and Dale L. Heck and wife, Lynn (Loga) of Aurora, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gothleif and Christina (Munt) Heck. His wife (of 72 years) and life long friend and soul mate, Mildred Inez (Olson) Heck. His son, Neil Leonard Heck.
