Yvonne was born in Langdon, she was the beloved daughter of Joseph J. Gapp and Loretta Knaus Gapp. She graduated from St. Alphonsus High School, Langdon and Aaker’s Business College, Grand Forks. She was a member of the Womens’ Club at Resurrection Catholic Church, the FCE of Burtonsville, and the Burtonsville Garden Club. For eight years, she was the secretary at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Silver Spring. For 18 years, she was a volunteer at the Patient Support Services Office at the Washington Cancer Institute, Washington, DC. One of her great joys was traveling to 27 countries and 50 states. She was the wife of Roman Novak for 53 years and the loving mother of Spencer, Blaine, and Cordell (daughter-in-law, Michele). She was the devoted grandmother of Maxwell and Tessa Novak. She was the sister of Jolene Hoepfner (Gene), Donna Gapp, Sonya Heck (Donald), and the sister-in-law of Judith Gapp (David). She has many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, David Gapp, and son, Officer Blaine Novak.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blaine Novak Oncology Nurses Educational Fund, East Building, Room 1001, 110 Irving Street NW, Washington, DC 20010-2975.
