A memorial service and celebration of life was held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Livermore, Calif. for Geneva Irene Humphrey, 87, of Livermore, Calif.

She died September 2, 2014 in Portland, Ore.
Geneva was born December 27, 1926 in Dresden. After high school, Geneva graduated from Valley City Teachers College in Valley City. While attending college, she met the love of her life: Joe Humphrey. They both graduated and moved to Elbow Lake, Minn.; where Joe taught school. In 1957 Joe and Geneva and children moved to Livermore, where they spent the next 50 years together. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to family, friends, charity, and of course to all those who knew her well, tennis. She was active with the American Cancer Association at the local, state, and national levels; including head of volunteers for the State of California.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joe Humphrey; sister Edna Groff, daughter Jill Rogers, and grandson Eric F Humphrey.
Geneva is survived by her brother, Laurel Koehn (Betty) of Langdon; sons: Tim Humphrey of Burien, Wash., Kurt Humphrey (Rebecca) of Portland, Ore., and Scott Humphrey (Tracy) of Portland; daughter, Beth Fitch (Alan) of Beavercreek, Ore.; son-in-law Marcus Rogers of Lincoln University, Pa. Geneva is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Ben Humphrey (Megan), Sam Humphrey, Megan Humphrey, Peter Vanek, Kelsi and Alexandra Fitch, Jason and Nicholas Attebery, and Jessica Steele. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations made to the American Cancer Society.
