A funeral service was held Friday, December 5, 2014 at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel in Langdon for Mae B. Melland, 91, of Grand Forks and formerly of Nekoma and Park River.

She died December 3, 2014 at Woodside Village in Grand Forks.
Interment in the spring at Silvesta Cemetery, Fairdale.
Mae B. Lee was born June 17, 1923 to Bert and Mabel Lee. She attended school in the Nekoma area. In 1941, she married Walter Melland in Crookston, Minn., and they farmed in the Nekoma area. She sold Avon products and also worked with her husband, Walter, as part of a cleaning crew for the missile site in Nekoma. In 1977, they moved to Park River where she worked for 16 years as a kitchen aide at the nursing home in Park River. They moved to Grand Forks in the mid-2000s. She resided at Woodside Village until her passing. She loved gardening and flowers. She liked to bake and was wonderful at needlework. She embroidered a special quilt that had all the fifty states on it. She was an active member of the Nekoma Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir and was a member of the ladies aide group.
Surviving Mae are her daughters: Luanne (Al) Fenger of East Grand Forks, Minn., Vicki (Denny) Polikoff of Arvada, Colo., Beverly (Jim) McBride of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, sons Randy and Roger, and sisters Beatrice Myhre and Borghild Dahlgren.
