Langdon Fire Department

Hello to all from the Langdon Fire Department!! I would like to take this time to welcome all the residents, past residents, family and visitors to help celebrate the 125th celebration of Langdon this week here in beautiful Langdon. Enjoy your visit and be proud of your community!

As we enter this busy first week of July in Cavalier County we have many safety reminders for you to keep in mind. Temperatures have been very warm and humid, so we need to keep ourselves and children’s bodies hydrated so drink lots of water. We also want to remember to put sunscreen on regularly to avoid sunburns and make sure to apply insect repellent when going outdoors. During the summer we like to enjoy bonfires with family and friends. Please be careful while having bonfires; do not use gas or diesel fuel to light the fire. Be aware of your surroundings; do not have fires where the grass is too long or too dry. Adults should not allow children to light the fire and teach them not to play or run near the fire. Last but not least, fireworks. Please use extreme care while enjoying your fireworks. Be present while your kids are lighting fireworks and teach them the proper safety precautions to use while handling them. Stay away from tall dry grass, homes and others property.

During the 125th celebration of Langdon there will be emergency personal stationed and on call in Langdon. There will be EMT’s, law enforcement and firefighters present if needed. If you see any of these volunteers please take a minute of your time to say Hi and thank them for what they do. They are all great people working to keep our community safe.

Langdon Fire Department will be having their 30th Annual Fireman’s Social & Fundraiser on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Langdon Activity Center from 5-8 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from any Langdon fireman or from Lori Peterson at the Langdon 125th Store located in the Keepsakes building on Main Street. Supper will be; Roast beef, roast pork, potatoes, gravy, and dressing, all the trimmings and the always famous homemade salads that our loving wives prepare. Please purchase your tickets in advance if planning on attending, tickets are limited and are selling fast. We will only sell at the door if there are remaining tickets. We appreciate your donation to our one time a year fundraiser to the Langdon Fire Department. These donations get used to further train our firefighters, go to schoolings and help with day to day operations.

Once again enjoy your summer, the Langdon 125th celebration and Happy 4th of July!

Until next time, Be Safe and Become a Volunteer. (LFD)
