At the July 16 meeting, the Cavalier County Commissioners discussed the mowing requirements for all roadsides within the county.

Roadsides in the county that are within the right-of-way and border highways and landowners’ land must be mowed by the landowner no later than Aug. 1. The grass must be shoulder level or lower on that date. Those roadsides that do not meet this requirement or have not been mowed will result in the county hiring someone to mow. The landowner will then be assessed a rate of $100 per half mile of road. Landowners must clear all ditches and road right-of-way of all obstructions, such as rocks, trees, hay bales and machinery. If swathers are used in mowing the swaths must be removed. In Other Business: • Department heads spoke with the commissioners regarding the happenings in their respective departments.
