The Cavalier County Republican has hired Lee Coleman as their new Editor and Writer.
Posted on August 10, 2013
Coleman’s responsibilities will be covering area events, city and county commission meetings, school board meetings and other human interest stories. Lori Peterson, Publisher of the Republican, says, “I’m very excited to have Lee join our team at the paper. He comes with a great deal of experience.”
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Coleman started his career working in the mailroom of his first newspaper and developed into a veteran editor and award winning journalist and columnist.
Some 14 years ago, Coleman, a devout Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs fan, launched his column, The Lee Side.
“I have had a lot of fun with my column,” Coleman said. “I try to blend Southern humor with my style of writing to give my readers a chance to see things from a different side, the Lee side.”
In addition to The Lee Side, Coleman will write a weekly editorial column called “Got a minute?”
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to be in Langdon and do what I do the best for this community,” he said. “I am looking forward to meeting everyone and becoming an integral part of this community.”
“Folks have told me they are happy to have a hometown newspaper here and that is what the Republican is all about.”
“There is something to be said about the tradition and heritage of a newspaper that ran its first publication in 1888.”
“The written word can be powerful and with that power comes great responsibility. I want us all to work together to continue the legacy of the Republican and set the tone so history will favorably remember the name of this storied publication.”
“Please welcome Lee and his wife, LeAnn, to the community and I look forward to new changes with him joining our paper,” says Peterson.
In his spare time, Coleman enjoys fishing, camping and stock car short track racing.
