The little bank sits down on 7th Avenue in Langdon but as soon as you open the door, the big heart of this little bank encompasses guests.

In recent times, US Bank has made it known they want to be considered a local bank with local community ties.

“We want to let businesses know we have custom solutions to meet their needs so no matter what niche they are in the community, we have both business and personal products to fit their needs,” said Branch Manager Megan Ottem, now in her seventh year. “Each individual circumstance is different and we look at people as individuals and what would be the best fit for you personally.”

In addition to Ottem, US Bank, in Langdon for 16 years, has three employees to meet their customers needs. Kari Krom is the sales and service coordinator, Ashley Gustafson is the senior teller and Melissa Vikan serves as the drive-thru teller.

“When you work with a small staff, there has to be respect for everyone across the board,” Ottem explained. “You have to be willing to talk about things and have great communication.”

Ottem did want to talk about the sometimes preconceived notions potential new customers may have about banks trying to sell all the products they have available.

“If a product is not right for a person, we’re not going to push it on them,” she said. “If you don’t see the benefits, we don’t want you to have the product that you won’t use.”

As such, Ottem said the bank is flexible and will work with all customers to determine individual needs.

“People sometimes fall on hard times and just because you had hard times six months ago, that doesn’t mean you have it now,” Ottem said. “We understand each individual coming to us is not a cookie-cutter situation. We are going to look at you as an individual and understand your situation.”

With the new year approaching, Ottem said US Bank is ready for the inherent challenges as one of Langdon’s local community banks.

“We are a community bank that makes decisions here in North Dakota,” she said. “Our logo is all of us serving you and our office is that logo.

“We are here to help our customers with all their needs from personal to business needs, from the purchase of your first car to your dream home and everything in between.”
