Custom Grain Cleaning of Langdon is under new ownership. New owners and twin brothers, Jim and Joe Johnson, have more than 50 years of combined experience in the agricultural community.
“My brother and I have always wanted to be in the seed business together. We have each worked for many different agricultural companies over our years, mostly focusing on seed,” Jim said. “When this opportunity in Langdon came up, we jumped at the chance. I have been passionate about growing the U.S. canola industry in North Dakota and Minnesota.
“I have been impressed with how well canola grows in Cavalier County. I look forward to building on that success and producing even higher and more stable canola yields.”
Experienced in the production of corn, soybeans, wheat and sunflowers, Joe Johnson brings his own unique set of experiences to the venture.
“I’ve had the privilege of being involved in this dynamic industry for the past 25 years,” Joe said. “I think the future of agriculture looks very bright. I am focused on helping farmers achieve higher yielding and more profitable crops.”
With recent dips in commodity prices, the Johnson’s have to look for ways to both maximize yields and returns.
“At Custom Grain Cleaning, we will continue the tradition of selling certified small grain seed and seed treatments as well as custom grain cleaning services,” Joe explained. “We offer a wide array of high yielding seed solutions that both protect and increase yield.”
The featured wheat brand to be sold is AgriPro wheat and as a Syngenta Seed Advisor, the Johnson’s will sell Golden Harvest corn, NK brand soybeans, Syngenta brand sunflowers and alfalfa and Star Specialty seed canola.
Joe will be overseeing the daily operations of the business.
“My wife Peggy and I will be moving to Langdon before Christmas,” Joe said. “We are very excited to become a part of the community.”
