Spring baseball comes to an end;  summer ball ready to go

We begin this week with sad news that the Langdon-Munich Cardinals were upset by St. Thomas-Drayton-Valley-Edinburg in a play-in game at the Region 4 High School Baseball Tournament held in Grafton and Park River held May 19-22. The Cards lost to the sixth seeded Blue Knights.  We thank seniors Kade Pengilly and Nevin Beachamp for their fine high school baseball careers and we look forward to them playing in the upcoming American Legion Baseball season which will begin in June.  Again Dylan Crockett and Jay Adam will be coaching the team.  Summer baseball and softball will also begin in June. T-Ball and Pee Wee baseball will start June 2.  T-Ball again in Langdon will be Mondays and Wednesdays at noon,  with Pee Wee beginning at 5:30 p.m.  12U and 18U girls softball, Little League Baseball and Babe Ruth Baseball will also get started in the month of June.  We will have much more on this next week, as schedules still were not ready for some programs at press time.

Tuesday Night Men’s League Golf set to begin May 27

The Langdon Country Club will once again become a busy place on Tuesdays starting this week.  Tuesday Night Men’s League Golf will start May 27, with 34 teams in the early 3:30 p.m. shift, and 38 in the late 6:00 p.m. shift.  League secretary Randy Hill tells us that schedules are now available in the clubhouse, and that if you can’t play Tuesday, you have until the following Sunday to make it up. Also women’s league golf will start in June.  Contact Jenny Romfo to sign up your two person team the ladies league.

State Golf Tournament this week;  Langdon girls hoping for a top five finish

We will leave off this week by reminding folks that the State Girls Golf Tournament will be held May 27-28 at the Cross Roads Golf Course in Carrington.  The Region 3 Champion Langdon girls team will head down for a practice round on the course May 26, then will compete in the tourney the next two days. A reminder that you can follow shot by shot coverage of the action by going to the girls golf page at ndhsaanow.com.   Good luck Lady Cards.

“See ya!”  next week!
