As we roll this week, end of the year tournaments continue for summer baseball and softball.  Congratulations the Langdon Green 12U Girls Softball teams for winning the Northern League Tournament title over Cavalier.  The Langdon Green team was the top seed coming into the tournament and showed why, rolling to the championship. They are coached this season by Darin Gellner and Dave Haslekaas. The Langdon Pink had a fine year as well earning the second seed in the tournament, but had a tough day in the tourney.  They are coached by Marcie Crockett and Lane Christianson.  Congratulations to both squads.  The tournaments continue to roll this week, as the 12U Little League Tournament will be held in Park River July 12, with the 10U Little League Tournament going on in Langdon July 13. Meanwhile the 18U Softball Tournament happens in Crystal July 15, and the Northern League Babe Ruth Tournament finishes up in Munich July 13.  Lots going on and lots to keep track of… We will do our best to keep you up to date as each tournament in completed.

A big tip of the cap to Munich

We need to throw a huge shout out to Munich this week.  They have really stepped up and helped out with hosting a number of Babe Ruth and American Legion games.  Due to work being done on American Legion Field to get ready for the upcoming State B Legion Tournament July 30-Aug. 3, games have been unable to be played there.  So the Munich Park Board offered to host the games their, and they have done a great job.  Special thanks to Bobby Foster, Seth Hanson and Bruce Wirth (When it comes to things in Munich we always thank Bruce because he always comes into play somewhere), and the entire community of Munich for helping out in a time of need.  It’s also great to see beautiful Edgar Westphal Field utilized again.  It’s awesome to see lots of activity at the park in Munich once again. Thanks again to everyone to helping this come together.  Legion games are scheduled in Munich for July 14 versus Midway-Minto and July 16 against Rolette.

July 17 an enormous day in Langdon

We will leave you by letting you know all of the fun things happening in Langdon this Thursday.   It starts with Field Day at the Langdon Research Center, which always draws a big crowd.  That leads into the Northern Canola Growers Golf Tournament at the Langdon Country Club that afternoon.  And the day will be complete with a performance by Jazz on Tap at the Boyd Block Plaza that evening, which is sponsered by the Northern Lights Arts Council. It’s a day of truly something for everyone, and we hope you get out and enjoy the many activities.

“See ya!” next week!
