Spotlight on Community: Cavalier County Republican hires another writer

The Cavalier County Republican recently hired Melissa Anderson as a writer.

Posted on 7/19/14

Anderson comes to the Republican after moving to Langdon in April. Anderson previously lived in Fargo, and has a  Bachelor of Science degree in English with a minor in History from North Dakota State University (NDSU).

Writing has always been part of her life, and was a hobby that is now a career.

“I have been writing stories since third grade,” Anderson says.

Anderson is excited to be able to put her English degree to use as she writes for the paper.

She is most excited to write the human interest pieces, and will also cover the meetings in Cavalier County.

When not writing, Anderson enjoys spending time with her family, learning about different events in history and spending time outdoors.

Anderson and her husband Scott along with their daughter Aurora, four months, moved to Langdon where Scott is originally from. Anderson grew up in Washburn.

Anderson will be in the Republican on Tuesdays through Thursday mornings where she will spend her time working on various stories.

While she is nervous, especially switching from creative and academic writing to newspaper writing, she is up for the challenge.

To get in touch with Anderson for a story, call her at 701-256-5311 or stop in Tuesday through Thursday at the office at 618 3rd Street in Langdon.
