A funeral service was held Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon for Vincent Schaan, 89, of Langdon and formerly of Balta.

He died Friday, March 6, 2015 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon.
Vincent was born November 9, 1925 to Mathew and Stephenia (Hoffart) Schaan at Rugby. He attended school in Balta, graduating in 1943. On May 21, 1945, he married Elizabeth Merck in Balta. He ran the grocery store in Balta until retiring. In 1995, they moved to Langdon to be closer to family. He loved to play the accordion. He enjoyed fishing, playing softball and baseball with his sons, doing yard work, and singing in the church choir. He was an avid New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan.
Surviving Vincent are his children: Roland of Langdon, Richard (Sandy) of Langdon, Romaine of Fargo, Reynold (Debbie) of Fargo, Charlotte (David) Brandt of Mandan, Randall of Langdon, Robert of Langdon, Vincent of Grafton, Kenneth (ManaRae) of Oakdale, Minn.; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister Irene Schneider.
He is preceded in death by wife Elizabeth, daughters Marie and Collette, and siblings: Carmelita, Hildagard, Boniface, Agnes, Pius, John, Nick, Tony, Tom, and Helen.
