Springtime in the Tundra

Well, what a difference a week makes. As we come to you this time around, we are well into the 50s for a spring like temperature and good times weather wise appear to finally be here. While we don’t seem to totally out of the woods via the 10 day forecast, it at least looks like we should be above freezing for the considerable near future for hi temps, if not out of it until October, hopefully.
Cardinals hope to host their first baseball game April 13
The Langdon-Munich Cardinals high school baseball team will try to get in their first game of the season April 13 against perennial region favorite Grafton. The Cards were to play April 9 at Lakota-Edmore, but that game was cancelled due to wet conditions. The Cardinals lost some talent to graduation but will still bring back a nice club this season, and it should be a fun spring for them. Summer baseball in Langdon is in need of coaches for the upcoming year for American Legion, Babe Ruth and 10U Little League Baseball and Girls Softball. Please contact any Langdon Park Board Baseball Committee member for more information. The summer will be here before we know, so these positions need to be filled soon.
Men’s League Golf signup begins
April 13 is also the opening day to signup for Tuesday Night Men’s League Golf at the Langdon Country Club. There will be two shifts once again this year, at 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. To signup your two man team contact Randy Hill, who is once again organizing the league this season. Both shifts fill up relatively quickly so get in touch with “The Principal” as soon as possible to assure a spot in either the early or late shift. And while the league won’t start until the latter part of May, the first Tuesday Night Men’s Stag will be April 21. Sporty’s Bar will be running the bar at the club this year, while Theresa Valentine will once again be running the kitchen.
Second meeting of the Langdon-Munich Sports Boosters coming this week
April 14 is the date for the next meeting of the all new Langdon-Munich Sports Boosters. It will be held at the Langdon Eagles Club at 7 p.m. Again it’s all about helping out with all Langdon-Munich school sponsored sports, so if have a child that is or will participating in Cardinals athletics, they would like you at that meeting. For more information contact Lane Christianson at 256-3205.
Team Scrappy run is coming
We will leave this week by reminding everyone the 5th Annual Team Scrappy Walk and Run will be held April 25 in Langdon. The committee members are encouraging everyone to register early and to get your t-shirt orders in, to do that you can find forms at D & B Motors, United Communications, Choice Financial or Mostad Insurance Services. You can also get a form or more information from any of the committee members – Tara Field, Sleepy Dosmann, Tiffany Hetletved, Jennifer Roy, Tami Omdahl, Kathy Snortland, or Tara Mikkelsen. This appears to be the last time they will do this (although we’ve heard that before ha ha), so if that is the case they hope to go out with their biggest crowd yet. We will have much more on the Team Scrappy Run the next time we visit.
“See ya!” next week!
