The recital will take place at the Langdon Area High School on Friday, April 24, at 7 p.m. Ticket prices for the event are $5 for adults, $3 for students (K-12) and free for preschool and under.
While there may not be a set a theme, the recital will be featuring several Disney favorites, as well as Motown, disco, and other inspirational selections.
The type of dance that the dancers will be performing are ballet and jazz style dance.
“My hope is that the audience will enjoy different styles of dance along with a variety of music,” Kahla Moutria, who owns the studio and instructs the students, stated.
“We have everything from adorable princesses, an Aladdin-inspired genie routine, Motown jazz, and an encouraging, uplifting ballet for our closing number,” Moutria continued.
The studio has the students separated into different age groups. The first age group begins at age 3 and is called the Creative Movement class. This class is dedicated to learning rhythm, basic movements, and coordination through dance games.
The next group is the age 4 students who are in the Twinkle Toes class. This class is an introduction to dance terminology and musicality through ballet and jazz.
The Primary Combo class is for students age 5 and 6 and consists of a combination of ballet, jazz, and tumbling skills to increase their technique, strength, and flexibility as dancers.
Level 1 Combo class is for dancers age 7 and up and focuses on a deeper knowledge and technique of ballet, jazz, and tumbling leading to more complex skills and movement.
“These classes are recreational in nature and are beneficial for children to maintain an active lifestyle, a great place for socialization, as well as boosting their self-esteem,” Moutria stated.
