A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melrose, Minn. for James W. “Jim” Koehn, 58, of Long Prairie, Minn.

He died peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minn. after a short battle with cancer and a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Interment at Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery in Dresden.

James William Koehn was born September 25, 1956 in Langdon to Theodore and Doris (Klein) Koehn. He attended Dresden Country School until the 4th grade and graduated from Langdon High School in 1975. He worked at National T. Grocery Store in Langdon for several years. In 1976 his family moved to Long Prairie. He worked various jobs before working at Electrolux in St. Cloud for 32 years. He quit working after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2008. He was a man of faith. He read his bible often and could quote many bible verses. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melrose. He enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, and motorcycles. He could ride a wheelie on his motorcycle for miles. He was also the founder and creator of the “party cabin” in the woods.

Survivors include his parents, Ted and Doris Koehn of Long Prairie, Minn.; brothers Jerome (Missy) Koehn and Jeff Koehn all of Long Prairie, Minn.; sister Nancy (Dan “Bubba”) Rahn of Grey Eagle, Minn.; nephews and niece: Josh (fiancé, Tonie Scholz) and Tyler Koehn, and Nathan and Amber Rahn and aunts and uncles: Ervin Klein of Albany, Minn., Arlene Landowski of Albany, Minn., Janet Cigelske of Hewitt, Minn., Carole (Jerry) Rodenwald of Albany, Minn., Sharon Lehner of Albany, Minn., and Gladys Koehn of Salem, Ore.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
