Karen was born December 16, 1948 in Langdon. She was one of five children born to Stewart and Clara (Lund) MacArthur. She graduated from Munich High School in 1966. Following school she lived in California with her sister where she worked for a phone company until moving to Cheyenne. From 1968-1978 she was employed with the Mountain Bell Company as a phone operator. On February 17, 1979 she married William E. “Bill” McLean. The couple came to Thermopolis in 1981. In 1985 she became a paraprofessional in the Hot Springs County School District serving as a teacher’s aide for 22 years. She was a caring, hospitable woman who had a sense of humor, enjoyed nurturing children and making crafts. She was a phenomenal cook, enjoyed traveling and was a fan of both local and college sports. She loved to keep in touch with her friends and family through writing letters, talking on the phone, or sending sentimental cards throughout the year. Her family was truly here “pride and joy”.
Loved ones surviving include her husband of 36 years; sons William Cody McLean of Casper and Dustin (Ashle) Drew McLean of Thermopolis; grandchildren: Cameron Igou, Cade, Dawson, and Daxton McLean; brother Stuart (Colette) MacArthur of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and sisters, Clara (Herb) Seaver of Larimore and Susan Westphal of Munich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Marlys Larson and brother-in-law Edgar Westphal.
