The week ahead will be a wild one for the Langdon-Munich track and baseball teams.  The Cards tracksters are gearing up for the Region 2 meet, which will be held in Larimore 16.  They also will have one final regular season meet in Devils Lake May 11.  They unfortunately had a home meet cancelled due to frigid weather on May 7.  In this weeks Republican you can find a list of athletes that have already qualified for the State Track Meet which will be held in Bismarck May 22-23. The Cards track team has battled through a number of injuries this season, and they hope to get a number of other runners and throwers qualified in the regional meet.  Meanwhile the Langdon-Munich high school baseball team is having three home dates to end their regular season, one of which was postponed from this past week.  They will host St. Thomas-Drayton-Valley-Edinburg May 11, Pembina County North May 12, and Park River-Fordville-Lankin May 13. The games with the Blue Knights and Grizzlies are 4:30 p.m. starts, but the rescheduled games with PRFL will begin at two.  After these three regular season dates the Cards will advance to the Region 4 Tournament which will begin in Grafton May 18.  Hard to believe we our at this point of the season for both sports.

Langdon girls golf team qualifies two for state

The Langdon boys and girls golf teams still have a couple of weeks left in their season.  The girls will host a meet at the Langdon Country Club May 11, then regional meets will go for both teams on May 14, with the girls in Cando and the boys in Larimore.  The Cardinals have qualified two golfers for state already in junior Krystal Ratzlaff and sophomore Jayden Romfo.  Krystal has gotten medalist honors at numerous tournaments this year and Jayden has also been at near the top of the leader board all year.  Also Shea Ormiston has been on the edge of qualifying and recently won medalist honors at a meet in Cando. The girls team overall has won many meets this year and they should do well at regionals.  Good luck to both the girls and boys teams.  The State Golf Tournament for the boys is in Carrington this year while the girls is in Jamestown.  Both will be played May 26-27.

Golf signup continues

Randy Hill, organizer of Tuesday Night Men’s League Golf at the Langdon Country Club wanted us to remind you that signup is still ongoing for the early and late shifts.  He believe there were 32 teams signed up for the early round and 38 for the late.  To sign up your two man team, simply call “The Principal” at 370-1118.  Also Chalmer Dettler wanted us to mention this week that the Langdon Area School District Foundation Golf Tournament is happening at the course June 27.  This will be a four person scramble tourney once again this year and it does fill up very quickly. To sign up for that tournament call Dettler soon at 256-5431.

Baseball coaching positions starting to get filled

The Langdon Park Board Baseball Committee has announced a couple of coaching hires for the upcoming season.  Kade Pengilly will be coaching the Langdon Babe Ruth team this year, taking over for Connor Braaten.  Pengilly has been a main cog in the Langdon Red Sox American Legion team the last couple of years, and he excited to now be coaching the babe ruthers.  There will be two 14U Girls Softball teams this year, and the coaches will be Darin Gellner and Jeff Kruk.  Gellner has coached the last couple of years while Kruk is new to the program.  The American Legion coaching position should be announced last week, as a replacement is needed for Dylan Crockett, who has decided to stay in Fargo for the summer where he is attending NDSU.  Other coaching positions also will be announced in the week ahead.

“See ya!” next week!
