A whirlwind finish to the spring sports season is happening this week. The Region 4 High School Baseball Tournament wrapped up in Grafton May 21. The Grafton Spoilers were going for their ninth (!) straight trip to a state tournament, which starts in Mandan May 28. As most of you read these words, the State A & B Track Meet is going on a the Community Bowl in Bismarck, and the State B Golf Meets happen May 26-27 for the girls in Jamestown and for the boys in Carrington. The Langdon girls golf team is hoping for a great meet in state, and they look to possibly finish very high in the tourney. Best of luck to all our spring sports athletes, and we will report how they all did next week.
American Legion coaches named
The Langdon-Munich Cardinals had their high school baseball season come to an end May 19 with a tough 8-7 loss to Park River-Fordville-Lankin at the Region 4 Tournament in Pembina. With the Cardinals season coming to an end, we can begin to look forward to the American Legion Baseball season. The Langdon Park Board Baseball Committee would like to announce that Jay Adam will be coaching the Red Sox this year, assisted by Cole Solseng. Adam has a wealth of coaching experience with the Legion program, last being head coach in the early to mid-90’s, but has been with the club in some shape or form for many years after. Solseng is originally from Park River but also has a big baseball background. Both men should be a big boost to the Red Sox team, as they take over for Dylan Crockett, who elected to work in Fargo for the summer.
Happy Memorial Day weekend
We will leave this week by wishing everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy yourselves, but remember the meaning of the day, and don’t forget the Langdon American Legion Post 98 Memorial Day Program May 25 at 10:00 a.m. It’s very strange this year to still have school going on after Memorial Day, but that is the case in Langdon, who will have their Graduation Day on May 31.
“See ya!” next week!
