“We are called the Cardinal Sports Boosters, as we will represent both schools equally since we are co-oped in every sport,” Lane Christianson, a board member of the Cardinal Sports Boosters, stated.

Christianson explained that there were a few parents that were discussing the old sports booster club and why it stopped being active. Holly Lyons had mentioned to Christianson before that she had been a member, so Christianson contacted her to get more information.

The Board of Directors for the recently revived Cardinal Sports Boosters are Lane Christianson  as president, Shane Henderson as Vice President, Bobby Foster as Treasurer, and Rochelle Romfo as Secretary.

“There were a group of parents that wanted to get more involved and help the kids reach their maximum potential,” Christianson explained.

The mission of the Cardinal Sports Boosters is to provide support to the Cardinal Athletic Department and promote sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and school spirit to the athletes in the Langdon Area and Munich School Districts.

Becoming a member is easy and only requires the filling out of a form. The dues then go towards the Boosters goals as a whole or to which ever program the applying member prefers.

“There is a form that needs to be filled out to request the money for whatever program and what they want to do with it. Example: help pay for a team camp or some equipment.or pack lunches for long road trips stuff like that,” Christianson explained.

There are four levels of membership. The first level is called the “Cardinal Club General” where members pay a due of $25 and receive a member’s reward in the form of a Cardinal Sports Boosters decal and button.

The next level is the “Cardinal Club White” with dues being $50 and a member rewards of a Cardinal Sports Booster decal, button, and a Cardinal flag.

The level after white is the “Cardinal Club Red” which has member dues set at $100. These rewards are a decal, button, flag and two Cardinal Sports Boosters t-shirts.

The final level of the Cardinal Sports Boosters is the “Cardinal Club Black” and the dues amount are $250. These member receive a decal, button, Cardinal flag, and two Cardinal Sports Boosters windbreakers.

All members have the option of adding a Cardinal Calendar to their member’s dues which will provide them with a full Cardinal Athletics schedule.

Currently, the Cardinal Sports Boosters has about 20 individuals on their roster of members.

The fundraising efforts of the Boosters is already underway this summer with two events scheduled for the end of July.

“We will be having a 3-on-3 tournament during Music Fest weekend and a golf tournament on July 30,” Christianson stated.

The 3-on-3 Tournament slated for Music Fest on July 25 will have boy’s and girl’s divisions with 8-9 year olds, 10-11 years old, 12-13 year olds, 14-15 year olds. The entry fee for the tournament is $60 and there is a three game guarantee for the tournament.

The golf tournament on July 30 will be held at the Langdon Country Club. The entry fee is $100 and includes green fees, mulligans, raffle, all games, and a steak supper following the completion of the tournament.

Registration for the golf tournament begins at noon until 12:50 p.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Proceeds from both events will go towards the efforts of the Cardinal Sports Boosters to assist the Cardinal Athletics programs and athletes.

The other fundraising events for the Boosters will take place at home games for the Cardinal Athletic programs. The volleyball games will feature a “You Got Served” event where participants will show off their serving skills and earn money for the Boosters at the same time.

During the home basketball games, stay in your seats or hit the gym floor for “Bucks for Baskets”. The premise of this event is the gaining of sponsors and within 10 shots earning money for the Boosters.

Another event that everyone, both young and old, can look forward to at half-time of home games is BINGO. The Boosters will also be providing other opportunities to support their efforts as well.

“We will be doing a membership drive at all our events,” Christianson said.

The Cardinal Sports Boosters will also never turn away anyone who is interested in volunteering.  Whether it be assisting in running a tournament, selling merchandise or making posters, there are options for every comfort level.

“We accept volunteers, you don’t have be a member to volunteer and help out,” Monica Porterfield, member of the Cardinal Sports Boosters, said.
