We here we are, ready to roll for Music Fest week in Langdon. So many things will happening, and of course the highlight will be some great music on the Boyd Plaza stage. On the 20th Anniversary of Music Fest, it seems fitting that the Johnny Holm Band will be in Langdon July 25, which should make for a special evening. There is also some band called “Kulland and the Gang”, that will play Friday night July 24 (I wanted to call it “Jake and the Fireballs”, but was voted out). All we can say is that there will be some very talented musicians along with yours truly on the stage, with one coming all the way from Houston, Texas. You will hear songs you’ve heard many times, some you’ve never heard, and some we haven’t played live before. We of course are keeping our fingers crossed that some of our great local talent and past and future bandmates will also join us for a song or two. It’s going to a blast getting back on stage, that I can tell you.
Sports wise as part of Music Fest the all new Langdon-Munich Sports Boosters will be holding a 3 on 3 boys and girls basketball tournament at the courts at the elementary school and the city park from 10am to 12 noon. Contact Josh Worley to sign up for the event, or just show up that day. The sports boosters will also be running hot shot and free throw competitions that day, along with some fun games of lightning. They will also have a booth on Main Street with some games offered there as well.
American Legion Field shutting down for the season
It’s sad to say that American Legion Field in Langdon hosted it’s last game of the year when the Langdon Red Sox played Park River on July 16. It’s seems so early because last year of course the diamond was host the State B Legion Tournament, which went into early August. But it is what it is, as Langdon will still be practicing on the diamond early this week in preparation for the Northeast Region American Legion Baseball Tournament, which will be held in Thompson July 22-25. As we write it looks as if Langdon will be the sixth seed, and we wish them the best of luck in the tourney. Congratulations also go out to the Langdon 12U Little League team for winning the Northern League Tournament in Grafton July 11, and to the 10U team on taking second at their tourney in Park River July 12-13. The Northern League Girls Softball Tournament will be held in Drayton July 19, with both Langdon 14U teams looking to do some very good things. One more event, the Langdon-Munich Pee Wee Tournament will be held July 20 to close out things on the diamonds this year. It’s been another special year for Langdon Area Baseball and Softball.
Golf Tourney change
We will leave by saying that the North Valley Senior Golf Tournament has been changed to July 27 at the Langdon Country Club. It got moved from July 13, and again it’s open to all men’s golfers aged 50 and over. Also the International Golf Tournament is coming to courses in Langdon, Walhalla, Morden and Winkler. We welcome all golfers in the world’s largest tournament to the are and wish all the best of luck.
Happy Music Fest, and See ya! next week!
