This is the week that high school football games begin for the Langdon-Munich Cardinals. The Cards are under the direction of the Josh Krivarchka once again this year, as he begins his fourth year as head coach of the Cardinals. Langdon-Munich will have their first two games of the year on the road, at Belcourt versus Turtle Mountain on Aug. 28, then in Hunter against Northern Cass on Sept. 4. They will have their first home game on Sept. 11 when they entertain Carrington, and homecoming is Sept. 18 against Rugby. The Cardinals have 23 kids out for this years team, with just two seniors in Jesse Lien and Ryan Wells. The biggest class by far is sophomores, with 13 out from that class. The Langdon junior high will also have their first game of the year hosting North Star. on Aug. 27, and Langdon 4-6 grade team will have their first practice Aug. 25. North Border had their first 9 Man game of the year at St. John on Aug. 21.
Volleyball getting going too
The Langdon-Munich volleyball team is ready to start their season Aug. 29 at a tournament at Northern Cass. The Lady Cards will have their first home match Sept. 3 versus Thompson. Rich Olson and Tami Flink are once again coaching the varsity program this year, and they have just short of 30 girls out in grades 9-12. They should have a great year, and will preview that a bit more next week. North Border will have their first match of the season Sept. 1 at home against Grafton.
Golf wide open now at Langdon Country Club
We will leave you this week by saying that even though league golf is now in the playoffs at the Langdon Country Club, Tuesday Night Golf still continues, with stag night activities planned every Tuesday well into October. And outside of Tuesday’s, the course is now wide open on every other day, and a tournament is still tentatively planned for late September.
Good luck with harvest my friends, and “See ya!” next week!
