She died Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after a 16-year courageous battle with cancer.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Edward’s Cemetery in Nekoma.
Mary Ann was born on September 23, 1945 in Langdon to William Joseph and Lucy Catherine (Rohde) Petri. She grew up in the Langdon area, graduating from Nekoma High School in 1961. She attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton for one year before marrying Duane Lenz on October 8, 1963. The couple lived in several Midwestern states while Duane worked for Northern Propane before coming to Wyoming in 1980. They first came to Buffalo to run South Fork Inn Resort, but moved to Cody in 1982 when Duane took a job with Lincare. The couple relocated to Worland in 1990. When they moved to Wyoming, she went to work for First National Bank in Buffalo and then for Big Horn Federal in Cody. When they settled in Worland, she worked for Pinnacle bank until 1998 when she took a position with American Title Company. She enjoyed working there until she became too ill to continue. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, counted cross-stitch and spending time in the mountains. She was a self-less person. Her family was her priority and focus in life. She greeted life with an energetic, fun and spunky outlook. Her children thought of her as their greatest role-model because she was never too busy for family fun. She and Duane would dance their way around the kitchen as they made dinner together. Her compassion and concern for others defined her even as she entered into the Care Center. She wanted to help others who were in need because it was her desire to see that everyone was cared for. She was a very dedicated Catholic and member of CCW.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
