He died unexpectedly on July 23, 2016 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn.
Interment at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, Cologne, Minn.
Supe was born on July 8, 1964 in Langdon the son of Donald and Asta (Halgrimson) Machacek. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon. On October 27, 2001, he was united in marriage to Michelle M. Amberg at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hopkins, Minn. He was many things to many people – but the one thing he was to everyone is loved. I don’t believe that there was a person that knew him that didn’t love him or his personality or wit or sarcasm. There was something about him that everyone loved. And that would make him uncomfortable to hear – he hated being the center of attention. He was first a loved son and brother. Although they may have had their rough times, the Machacek’s have never held a grudge or stayed angry with each other. They are a strong, close family. He was a great friend! It is not possible to count the number of people that called him friend. Many of these friendships formed as young men playing baseball and have grown and strengthened over the last 40 years. He played Legion ball then Amateur for a few years before moving to softball so he could play with his best friends. It was back in Little League that his nickname started with a great catch – he was Superhacek – which ultimately became just ‘Supe’. Most importantly, he was a wonderful husband and father. He loved being involved in his girls’ lives – not because he should but because he wanted to. He loved watching them play volleyball and basketball. He chaperoned school events and made sure they got to where they needed to be. He shared his love of comedy TV and the Cubs with the girls. He was truly a partner in raising his children. He was a constant in Shelly’s life. He was strong, funny, kind, smart and easy going. He gave her balance and security. They had a blessed marriage and a love for each other and family that can be envied. He will be missed more than words can ever express. As so many have said and is so true – he was one of the good ones – he was the best of them.
