The Christmas Cheer Program began in 2004 with the idea of having a program that would allow parents to purchase gifts for their children based on what they know their child wants/needs.
In the past 12 years Cavalier County Social Services has been able to help families who live in Cavalier County to purchase Christmas gifts for their children during times when they may not have been able to do so without this program.
“Our community has been so supportive and helpful in raising funds so we can continue to help those who may find Christmas time very stressful due to lack of funds to purchase gifts for their children,” Kathy Downs, an Eligibility Worker at Cavalier County Social Services, said.
“We rely completely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and organizations in our community to support this program,” Downs continued.
Without the support of the community, Cavalier County Social Services would not be able to continue to provide help for area children.
Christmas is a special time of year, especially for children.  Sharing the magic of the holiday season with a needy child can give meaning to the season.  There is a way that you or your organization can help. Please consider making a financial donation to the Cavalier County Christmas Cheer Fund which provides gifts for children in our county.
If anyone would like to apply for the Christmas Cheer Program, they may call 701-256-2175 or can complete an application and send it to PO Box 630, Langdon, ND 58249.
People who would like to make a donation may drop it off at the Cavalier County Social Services office located at 324 7th Ave., Langdon, ND 58249 or mail donations to PO Box 630, Langdon, ND 58249.
