Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, November 25, 2016 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, of Langdon for Richard Messner, 68, who passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, Langdon.

Burial was held in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Wales.
Richard was born May 12, 1948, at Wales to Aloyius “Alex” and Beatrice (Ohlheiser) Messner. He grew up in Wales and moved to Langdon, where he graduated from Langdon High School in 1966. He then started working at Service Auto in Langdon under Slim Biby, in 1976 he became the manager. Things he enjoyed were NASCAR, puzzles, and doing word search, and visiting with his many friends.
He is survived by his sisters: Beatrice Delvo, Langdon; Lillian (Leo) Bittner, Devils Lake; Viola (Dennis) Brown, Langdon; brothers-in-law: Milan “Red” Anderson and Francis Babinski, both of Grand Forks; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings: Ardella Anderson, Marie Babinski, Helen Nagle, Joseph Messner; brothers-in-law: Jerome Delvo and Thomas Nagle; nephew Gary Messner.
