The Langdon-Edmore-Munich sports co-op has been working very well by hearing from everyone involved, and now Edmore will see two home games come its way in the week ahead.  The Cardinals girls and boys teams will play in Edmore on Jan. 30-31, with the girls taking the floor versus Four Winds-Minnewaukan on Jan. 30, then the boys versus Midkota on Jan. 31.  It will be fun to cover games down there on these two nights.  We should mention the Edmore gym has been utilized plenty this year, as it has been host to many junior high games for boys and girls, along with some JV and C squad match ups. With this co-op now entrenched, there are four gyms that the Cardinals teams can use for practices and games of all kinds.  By the way, the last game in Munich for the year will be on Feb. 4 when the Cardinals boys host Benson County with the varsity game to being around 4:30 p.m.

Girls Basketball winds down its regular season;  Senior Night scheduled for Feb. 3

It’s always crazy how fast sports seasons wind down, and the girls basketball season is the first that will work its way into the postseason.  The Langdon-Edmore-Munich Cardinals girls squad will have their final regular season home game on Feb. 3 in Langdon versus Lakota.  This will also be Senior Night for the Lady Cards, as Madi Hart and Ally Welsh will be honored before the varsity game.  The District 8 Girls Basketball Tournament will be held at the North Star school in Cando this year, with the dates running Feb. 10-13.  The Lady Cards are locked in to the second seed of the tourney and will have a first round bye.  We will have the complete tournament bracket in next weeks Republican.

Wrestling not too far behind

Girls basketball will not be the first to reach the postseason, as high school wrestling will get going with that first.  The Pembina County North Grizzlies (A wrestling co-op between North Border and Cavalier) have the honor of hosting the Region 2 Dual Tournament in Cavalier on Feb. 4.  The Grizzlies have had another very successful season, and look forward to showing off that success in front of their home crowd.  The Region 2 Individual Tournament will follow the next weekend on Feb. 11, then the State A and B Wrestling Tournament will be held once again at the Fargodome this year, from Feb. 16-18.  Best of luck to Coach Shawn Horgan the the Grizzlies team in all of these tournaments.

Langdon Country Club to host fundraiser

We will leave by reminding folks that the Langdon Country Club will host a fundraising Texas Hold Em Poker Tournament at Sportys in Langdon on Feb. 4.  Registration begins at 12 noon, with the tourney to begin at 1:00 p.m.. Every 21 and over is welcome to play, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the betterment of Langdon Country Club.  They hope to see everyone Feb. 4!

“See ya!” next week!
