The Langdon City Commission held a short meeting on Monday, February 13.

The Cavalier County Job Development Authority (CCJDA)Executive Director Shannon Duerr presented a new daycare grant program that the CCJDA had created for commission approval. The program was created in response to the increasing demand for childcare in the county. Currently, only 33 percent of the demand is being met.
The commission approved the program as presented.
Commissioner Chuck Downs informed his fellow commissioners that the city has qualified for the Community Capital Loan program offered by Rural Development Financial Corporation. Langdon City Auditor RoxAnne Hoffarth and Downs had worked on the application so that the funds could be used to remodel City Hall and make necessary improvements in the fire hall such handicap accessible bathrooms.
The commission has 180 days to work through the requirement for the loan. The loan was for $75,000 at one percent interest for five years. Estimated total project cost is $150,000.
Gary Bimler addressed the commission asking if a recently purchased lot from the county would be available to buy. Bimler explained that he would be interested in building a residence if he is able to acquire the adjoining lot. The commission stated they would be for that particular purpose.

• The commission approved continuing a contract for the continuation of renting city property.
• The commission gave direction to the City Water Department and Auditor’s office in regards to a delinquent account.
• The commission approved a catering permit for Sporty’s Bar and Grill for the Winter Gala.
