Funeral Services were held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Faith Evangelical Free Church, Grand Forks for Arvelda Wiens, 93, Grand Forks and formerly of rural Munich, who died in her sleep Monday morning, March 13, 2017 at her home in Parkwood Place.
Burial will be in Rosehill MB Cemetery near Munich
Arvelda (Klein) Wiens was born on November 14, 1923 in Gordon Township, the daughter of George and Anna (Fadenrecht) Klein. She attended rural Gordon School, and graduated from Alsen High School. After one term at Jamestown College, Arvelda earned her teaching certificate at Mayville. She taught one year in a 1-room schoolhouse in Moscow Township before marrying Elmer Wiens on October 4, 1946 at the Rosehill MB Church. She was active in the community and church, having served as Rosehill’s Sunday School Superintendent, secretary Alsen Public School Board, volunteer in Alsen’s elementary classrooms, and president of the Christian Women chapter in Langdon. Her greatest joys included prayer, hospitality, gardening and quilting.
Arvelda is survived by a son, Roger (Cheri) Wiens, Bisbee Ariz.; daughters, Nancy Wiens, St. Louis Park Minn., Lyn (Tim) Boese, Grand Forks, and Linda Wiens, Shoreview, Minn.; grandchildren, Peter Boese, Erin Boese and Mark Boese; brother, Clinton Klein and sister, Dorothy Ewert, both of Langdon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer, and a brother Clayton.
