A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Baptist Home Chapel in Bismarck for Elaine LaCoste-Turcotte, 93, of Bismarck.
She passed away on March 31, 2017 at the Baptist Health Care Center, Bismarck.
Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Langdon.
Elaine was born on January 7, 1924 in Oakwood Township in Walsh County to Louis (Pete) and Mary (LaFreniere) LaCoste. She graduated from St Aloysius Academy in Oakwood in 1941. After graduation she worked for a while in Detroit, Mich., then returned home to Grafton where she met the love of her life, Aime Turcotte. They were married in Oakwood on February 5, 1947. Aime worked several jobs and Elaine was a stay at home mom when Rita was born in 1949. The family moved to Langdon in 1955 where Aime worked for Bergman Implement, the local International Harvester dealer for over 30 years and Elaine worked at home as a seamstress. They lived in Langdon until Aime’s passing in 1991 then she retired and moved to Devils Lake. She later moved to Bismarck and in 2008 she moved to the Baptist Home. She enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives, sewing, camping and fishing with ‘Shorty’. Weekends were normally at the lake.
Elaine is survived by her daughter Rita (Larry) Swenson (Bismarck), sister Mary Delina LaCoste (Sister Angelita) (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and sister-in-law Dorothy (Suda) LaCoste (Minneapolis, Minn.); and grandchildren; Nicole (Mike) Glugla (Aberdeen, S.D.) and Jason Swenson (Fargo).
She was preceded in death by her husband Aime Turcotte, her parents Louis P and Mary LaCoste, sister Mary Clarisse (LaCoste) Turcotte, brothers Adelore and Albert LaCoste.
