Arnold John was born March 23, 1924 in Mount Carmel to Severius and Lucy (Perius) Metzger. He attended school in Mt. Carmel and Wales. He was united in marriage to Alice Kartes on June 22, 1948 in Mt. Carmel and they made their home in Langdon. He worked for John Deere for 19 years before starting his own business, Metzger Repair, in 1966. He worked right out of his garage/shop and never really retired as people still dropped stuff off to be repaired. He loved to make his own wooden and metal toys and saved many everyday items to use on them. He loved to fish, go camping, play music-especially the piano, and tinkering on things. He was a charter member of the Langdon Eagles Aerie #3454. He was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon.
