Funeral Services were held Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Rock Lake for Glenda McConnell, 66, of Rock Lake, who passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando.

Burial will take place at the Rock Lake Community Cemetery in Rock Lake.

Glenda was born April 16, 1951 to George and June (Winchell) Murdock in Cando. She was raised and educated in Rock Lake and graduated from the Rock Lake High School in 1969. Following high school, she furthered her education and attended NDSU for three and a half years. She was united in marriage to David McConnell on August 22, 1971 at the United Methodist Church in Rock Lake. The couple moved to Minnesota where David accepted a teaching position, and she worked as a meat processor. Shortly after, they purchased a grocery store and café in Hannah in which she operated for nine years. In 1983, they moved to Rock Lake to join the family farming business. In the early 90’s she took on the task of running the Rock Lake Café and continued to do so for nearly six years. Around this same time, they partnered to build Lil’ Prairie Greenhouse and operated it for 20 years, all while still working on the farm. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Lake Havasu, Ariz. with her husband, David, for the last 13 years. She also loved her long walks, reading, gardening, baking and spending time with her family. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Rock Lake.

Glenda is survived by her husband of 45 years, David; her mother, June (Winchell) Murdock; her children, Chris McConnell of Rock Lake and Karen McConnell of Shakopee, Minn.; and her sister, Laura Rensvold of Fargo.

She was preceded in death by her father, George V. Murdock.
