A memorial service was held Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Cavalier Baptist Church of Cavalier for Valorie A. Brown, 66, of Cavalier, who passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier.
Valorie A. Lawonn was born August 2, 1950 at Grafton to Herbert Glenn “Bunch” and Dorothy Mae (Gibson) Lawonn. She grew up in the Hensel area and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1968. She then attended Mayville State University graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. While at Mayville she met her future husband, Dave Brown. They were married on July 23, 1971 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural St. Thomas. She taught school in Cavalier for 17 years and later opened and operated the Cub House pre-school. In 1994, she became a State Farm Insurance Agent. She enjoyed golf, travel, laughing and spending time with friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with family at Maple Lake and reading to her grandchildren she loved so dearly.
She is survived by her daughters: Nicole Lischefske of West Fargo, Tiffani Albrecht of St. Paul, Minn., Karissa (Chris) Brusseau of Fargo, Jaime (Scott) Hanson of Cavalier; grandchildren: Savannah, Dori, and Lauren Lischefske; Teagan, Sadie, Faera, and James David Albrecht; Jaelyn, Brynn, Trevyn, and Jaxyn Hanson; Kaden and Colten Brusseau; and siblings: Gwen (Ron) Werner of Cavalier and Herb Lawonn of Arvilla.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband David Brown, and son-in-law James Albrecht.
