A celebration of life service was held Friday, July 14, 2017, at First Lutheran Church, Minot and another service will be held in Story, Wyo. on July 30, 2017, at 4 p.m (MST). for Cynthia Rae (Sperling) Klaus, 62, of Story, Wyo., who passed away on July 1, 2017, with her husband Mel, sons, and family by her side.
Cynthia was born on July 19, 1954, to Vernon C. Sperling and Doris L. (Peterson) Sperling in Langdon. She was raised on the family farm west of Langdon where she went to country school before transferring to Langdon where she graduated in 1973. She pursued her nursing degree and graduated from Minot State University and obtained her RN. She was married to Marlan Lillemon in July 1977, and from that union her two sons Nathan and Matthew Lillemon were born. She loved her boys, and was thrilled when she was blessed with four grandsons. She met Mel Klaus, and they were united in marriage on June 16, 2000. She loved their home they made in Story, Wyo. After building their home in Wyoming thye made many homes throughout the southwest as there was always a new adventure in their travels. During their travels, they found their winter home in Mesa, Ariz. Among travel, she also enjoyed cooking, sewing and enjoying her grandchildren were a few of her favorite of many talents.
She is survived by her husband Mel Klaus, Story Wyo.; sons Nathan and girlfriend Terri Barnes, Minot; Matt and Cristina Lillemon, Minot; four grandsons Jace, Gavin, Hudson, and Jerimiah, Minot; step-son Christopher (Catherine) Klaus, Crystal Lake Ill.; sisters Colleen (Keith) Broe, Bottineau; Linda (John) Mosser, Minot; brothers Mark (Brandy) Sperling, Tulsa, Okla.; Steve (Lisa) Sperling, Minot, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Doris Sperling, grandparents and one nephew Jacob Broe.
Memorials may be given to hospice or lung cancer research.
