The Youth Group of United Lutheran Church(ULC) in Langdon invites rhubarb lovers to attend the 10th annual Rhubarb Festival on Saturday, July 15, from noon to 2 p.m.

The event came about when Corey and Julie Johnson attended the Wells County Fair in Fessenden where a similar fundraising event was held. The Johnsons presented the idea to the youth group, and the decision was made to have one here.
“Our first year hosting the event, we raised over $3,300,” Julie Johnson recalled.
If you have never experienced Rhubarb Fest, there are over 20 different items made by members of the youth group, their families, or members of the ULC congregation. The rhubarb used in the tasty dishes is donated by members of the ULC congregation and picked by youth group members.
When Rhubarb Fest first began the youth group also created rhubarb leaf stepping stones that were available to purchase. To celebrate the 10th year of the festival, the youth group will once again be making the stones.
“Laura Dease was in charge of making the stones this year along with several other adults,” Johnson said.
The Rhubarb Festival is one of three fundraisers held by the ULC Youth Group in order to raise funds for their mission trips as well as for summer bible camp.
“It’s a fundraiser that makes a lot of money in a short period of time without a lot of overhead expenses,” Johnson explained.
ULC would like to thank the Eagles as well as the many other area businesses that support this fundraiser.
