Playoffs go into high gear this week

Let’s go this week by saying the North Dakota High School Football Playoffs really get wild for our area in the week ahead.  The 9 Man Playoffs will continue, and the Class A 11 Man Playoffs will begin.  The Langdon-Edmore-Munich Cardinals are ranked second in the state in the Class A poll, and after playing their last regular season game at home for Senior Night against Park River Area on Oct. 13, they will host the first of what everyone hopes is a number of playoff games.  Their first opponent has already been determined.  Kindred is locked in as the fourth seed in Region 1A, and they will play in Langdon at 2:00pm on Oct. 21.  The Cardinals Sports Boosters have some big things planned before the game which we will talk about in a moment.  In the 9 Man Playoffs, Cavalier will be hosting a second round game against either Thompson or Oakes on Oct. 21 and North Prairie will have a home game on the same day in the second round.  North Border and North Star were in the first round of the 9 Man Postseason on Oct. 14, and if they win there they will play in the second round as well.  Exciting times for sure are all over the place, and we wish all area playoff teams the best of luck.

Cardinals Sports Boosters to hold pregame tailgate party

Before the Langdon-Edmore-Munich playoff game versus Kindred, the Cardinals Sports Boosters will hold a tailgate party at the field beginning at 12 Noon, and leading up to the kickoff at 2:00 p.m.  They will be grilling up burgers and hot dogs for a free will offering, and they also will be having some games for fans to play to win a variety of Cardinals gear.  All we hope is for a great day weather wise, and as of this writing it looks to be good that way.  So bring the family out early for the Cards game against the Vikings, it should be a great sports day in Langdon.

East Region Cross Country Oct. 21

That date of Oct. 21 is busy, busy, busy, as it also the beginning of the Cross Country postseason.  The East Region Meet will be held in Cooperstown once again this year for boys and girls runners.  The State Class A & B  Meet will follow on Oct. 28 in Valley City.  Elise Ramberg of Langdon-Edmore-Munich has been ranked first in the Class B Girls Individual Poll most of the season, and at last report had not lost to a Class B girls runner all season.  We wish her and both Cardinals teams, along with the boys and girls from Pembina County North good luck in the weeks ahead.

Volleyball in Edmore

A reminder to volleyball fans that the Langdon-Edmore-Munich team will play their one varsity match in Edmore on Oct. 17 versus New Rockford-Sheyenne.  There will junior matches all the way down through varsity, which will broadcast on 95.7 FM The Rock Farm.  We also will be in Park River to cover the Lady Cards having an interesting non-conference match against the Aggies on Oct. 16.  The Cardinals have been playing well, and look to continue their strong play in the week ahead.

“See ya!’ next week!
