A funeral service was held on Friday, October 20, 2017, at the Presbyterian Church in Langdon for Allan Darling, 88, of Langdon, who passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 at his home in Langdon.

Allan Kenneth Darling was born September 1, 1929 in Langdon to Manley and Evelyn (Oke) Darling. He attended school in the Langdon area. He entered the US Army in 1952 and was honorably discharged 1953. He returned to Langdon and was a life-long farmer in Harvey Township. He also worked for Mikkelsen Construction for many years. After retiring, he moved in to Langdon. He loved to hunt, bowl, fish, and curl. He could often be found cooking at Maida, the Eagles, or the curling club. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #3454, American Legion Post 98, Lebanon Lodge #34, and the Langdon Curling Club, for which he was president in 1968-69.
Surviving Allan are his children: Kathie Chaput of East Grand Forks, Minn., and Randy (Val) Darling of Langdon; four grandchildren: Jason (Lexi) Chaput, Amanda (Jason) Seykora, Janelle (Jason) Askvig, and Rachael Darling; great-grandchildren: Brecken and Hanlee Seykora and Westin and Gavin Askvig; step-grandchildren Nick and Shayna Wikus; brother Lee Darling of Beloit, Wis.; and niece Carla Darling.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
