The success, dedication and hard work of outstanding agriculturists in 53 counties in North Dakota and nine counties in Minnesota were honored during the 44th annual Harvest Bowl program at North Dakota State University, on Nov. 10. Jon and Carissa Iverson were the winners chose for Cavalier County.
Iversons raise wheat, barley, flax, corn, soybeans, peas and canola using conventional- and some minimum-tillage farming methods near Langdon. They also have some horses and chickens, as well as ducks for 4-H projects. They have been farming for 29 years and are in the Conservation Stewardship Program.
Jon also is chairman of the Cavalier County Soil Conservation District Board, chairman of the Cavalier County Farmers Union board and Cavalier County Crop Improvement Association, a member of the Farmers Union Oil Co. Board and a township supervisor. Carissa taught computer and preschool at St. Alphonsus School. She is also coordinator for Cavalier County Farmer’s Union Youth Group. They have three children.
