It’s #1 versus #2 this weekend
By Jake Kulland
Let’s get it going this week by telling you about what should be a blast of a girls basketball game coming up this weekend in Langdon. In the first Girls Basketball Poll of the year from the North Dakota Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, Langdon-Edmore-Munich was ranked first and Thompson second. Well that sets up a perfect storm, as the Tommies are scheduled to play in Langdon against the Cardinals the afternoon of Dec. 9. This are no junior high games that day, just C and B squad beginning at 12 Noon. So that should put the varsity game at around 3:00 p.m. The Lady Cards have battled through some injuries to start the year and are 2-0 so far, while Thompson is 3-0. If you wanted to come out and see a game, this would for sure be one of them to see. Of course we will be there broadcasting the game on KNDK 1080 for those that can’t make it to the gym.
The true craziness of the winter sports season is now here
With the start of boys basketball also this weekend, winter sports hit high gear. Girls and boys basketball, girls and boys hockey and wrestling all begin to get to the busy parts of their schedules, which will roll right up to the Christmas break in a couple of weeks. It’s a nutty time of year, as buses head in all different directions for the many activities, which of course includes Christmas Concerts for the area music students. The one thing we hope for out of all this is good weather and good roads to the travel on. As we’ve seen already, it is very hard to reschedule games, and though the weather makes that inevitable, it’s also nice not having to worry about it. So fingers crossed for a nice winter (Which we have had the start of already), which will translate into a great winter sports season.
Winter Sports Preview is here
In this issue of the Republican is our annual Winter Sports Preview. In it you will find previews, schedules, teams pictures and coaches comments of all Langdon and Langdon-Edmore-Munich teams. I would like to thank all the coaches that I’ve driven crazy this week in getting the information needed to put all this together. And of course thanks to our many sponsors who made this all possible. We hope you enjoy it!
“See ya!” next week!
