Funeral services were held Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the Presbyterian Church in Langdon for Doris E. Olson, 86, of Langdon, who passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery.
Doris Schey was born February 28, 1931, in Strandquist, Minn., to Henry and Emma (Bengston) Schey. She grew up in the Strandquist area and graduated from Strandquist High School. On July 21, 1951, she and Albert “Abba” Olson were married at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. The couple raised their family and lived in Langdon where she worked at the hospital, Jimmy’s Café, Abba’s Bar, and the Cavalier County Library. She loved baking, gardening, and fishing. She was an avid reader, bowled for many years, and was a huge Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved to make holidays and other get-togethers something special for her family. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Langdon and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving Doris are her children: Patty Hellerud of Fargo, Carol (Jerome) Hartin of Bonifay, Fla., Dean Olson of Langdon, Connie (Dan) Keller of Dickinson, Vera (Steven) Erickson of Shorewood, Ill., Tina (Jeff) Fisk of West Fargo and David (Amy) Olson of Grand Forks; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters: Delores Linder, Beverly (Gordon) Borsvold, and Vera Rood; sister-in-law Lee Schey; and brother-in-law Murray Olson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Abba, and siblings: Hazel, Harriet, Ethel, and Orville.
