A funeral service was held Friday, August 23 at the Maple Manor Care Center Chapel of Langdon for Adeline Skjerva, 95, of Langdon.

She died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon.

Adeline was born September 20, 1917 in Gordon Township to Jacob and Anna (Bartel) Spenst. After graduating high school, she worked for Braniff Airlines as a radio operator. She lived in Fargo and Kansas City, Mo. for a short period of time before moving back home to help the family after her brother, Johnie, passed away. She was united in marriage to Norton Skjerva on December 6, 1943 at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Alsen and together, they welcomed three children. She and Norton made their home on the farm where she was a homemaker and a very hard worker. She was very active in her church and with the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed spending her winters in California with her sister after Norton passed away in 1989.

She is survived by her daughters Faith Knight of Phoenix, Ariz. and Joy Lapos of New York Mills, Minn.; grandchildren Sarah Greenwold and Joshua (Carrie) Lapos; great-grandchildren Zachery and Miles Lapos; and sister, Leona of Fort Erie, Ontario.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norton, son Neil and sons-in-law: Bob Schue, Lee Knight, and James Lapos.

Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon was in charge of arrangements.
