Cavalier County 4-H members participated in the North Dakota State 4-H Showcase held during the 2013 State Fair in Minot.

4-H’ers representing nearly every county in North Dakota earns the opportunity to participate as a result of county competition prior to the State Fair.
The 4-H Showcase includes Project Expo and Clothing Revue events. 4-H’ers develop an educational display about a 4-H project they are enrolled in for Project Expo.
Participating was: Raquel Bata with her display “Mod Podge Canvas”; Tucker Regner with his display “Beloved Books”; Lexi Olson with her display “Lexi’s Duct Tape Design”; and April Kratcha with her display “April’s Volleyball Game. Raquel received an Award of Excellence. All are members of the Prairie Rose 4-H Club.
4-H Consumer Choices Judging Team Participants in State Contest
Christopher Morstad, Prairie Knights & Maidens 4-H Club and April Kratcha, Prairie Rose 4-H Club, participated in the North Dakota State Consumer Choices event held at the North Dakota State Fair. Christopher was the 6th high individual in the junior division. Christopher and April were on the 4th high team.
Consumer Choices requires youth to make informed decisions on consumer-related classes and then tell the judge their reasons for ranking the classes. Classes in this year’s state event were athletic shoes, yogurt and binoculars.
Cavalier County 4-H’ers receive Champion, Reserve Champion, and Award of Excellence Honors at the North Dakota State Fair.
Cavalier County 4-H’ers received Grand or Reserve Champion and Award of Excellence honors at the 2013 North Dakota State Fair in Minot.
Tasha Krahn received a Grand Champion on her Horses Drawing in the Drawing & Painting Class and received an Award of Excellence on her Photography Notebook.
Javan Krahn received a Grand Champion on his whole wheat bread in the Baking & Cooking Class.
Michael Kraft received a Reserve Champion on his Kraft Harvesting Truck in the Woodworking Class.
Kari Hoffmann received Reserve Champion on her buns in the Baking & Cooking Class.
Raquel Bata received Reserve Champion on her chocolate cupcakes in the Baking & Cooking Class.
Christopher Morstad received an Award of Excellence on his rhubarb muffins in the Baking & Cooking Class.
Erin Morstad received an Award of Excellence on her frozen crescent Rolls in the Baking & Cooking Class.
In the Sheep Show, Jaime Lundquist received a Grand Champion for Market Ewe Class, Market Wether Class and Overall Market Ewe. She also received Reserve Champion in Overall Market Lamb and Market Ewe Class 4. For the Beef Show, Lundquist received a Grand Champion on her Limousin junior yearling heifer and Reserve Champion on her Limousin spring yearling heifer.
4-H members throughout North Dakota are involved in a wide variety of projects such as woodworking, electricity, aerospace, computer, arts, citizenship, entomology, health, photography, horticulture, clothing, foods and home environment.
